I come from a long line of painters, musicians and authors. I was destined to inherit the gene of “Art Kid” from the very beginning, and art is, without a doubt, a passion I will continue to pursue.
The very first time I ever fell in love with art was during a class at the Milwaukee Art Museum. My sister-in-law taught there and for the first time my artwork actually had depth. That was one of the many stepping-stones I took to get from your typical dweeby anime drawer to an artist that understood the concept of anatomy and balance. It was not until the first year of high school that I had an actual art teacher and through out this three-year course I have developed a sense of style and have worked different types of mediums. I found print making impressive, and my peers labeled my use of color as unique.
The opportunity to branch out and go through such an in depth art class has benefited not only how I paint, but also my knowledge of the art world and all the artists that inhabit it. Claude Monet, William Adolphe Bouguereau, Sharon Cummings and Cindy Sherman have all been influences on my art. Learning about new artists and their techniques has been an eye opener to ways of creating art that are not just paint on a paint brush (similar to being an artist’s apprentice).
Without the world of art I imagine I would be a very uninteresting person. Art has shaped my hands and left paint on my clothes, it covers my walls and fills my sketchbooks.
